  1. A Journey to Instrumentation in Mathematics

Every life, every human has their own journey to take. And in that journey there are ups and downs but the thing is whether it is good or bad, at least we can get through it. As my college journey starts, I learned many things, face different people and learned from several mistakes.

But eventually, as journey begins there are particular subjects that we have to face, to finish college and to have enough knowledge to the field of teaching. We all know that mathematics is not an easy subject for most of the students in the field of learning. But then, many of these people still pursue to learn and to seek for this subject because some wants to, and some needs to. I guess many of us wants our weaknesses to become our strengths someday. So, like me I am poor in mathematics but yet I still pursue to study and face this subject because I want to for the betterment of my understanding and I need to because I am a future mentor and I am a generalist so it is part of my job to impart mathematics to students in the future.

So now I am on my third year in college, and facing four different major subjects in mathematics. One of this is the BEED 108 or the Instrumentation in Mathematics. We learned to construct good and effective lesson plan and imbibe teaching even more and be able to know the real meaning of the teaching profession. We also experienced demo teaching, where we are allowed and free to use whatever strategies we want and be able to extract and learn what’s right and wrong in preparing our lesson and our visual aids. And we learned to be creative to in making visual aids. We learned the proper strategies, techniques and approaches to use in proper discussion. And in this we have learned how to make mathematics more fun and interesting for the students.

If it was'nt for our dear professor, we would'nt learn so many things regarding this subject. So, we are really thankful and blessed that he has been apart of our lives. And taught us many things. And we would say that we really is the professor that is worth thanking for.

  3. A Journey to Instrumentation in Mathematics
Math is one of my favorite subjects in school, and this is one of the subjects that I want to teach in the future. Although math may not always be the easiest or most enjoyable subject, it's vital that you have the skills of problem solving and logical reasoning with you, because math will always be used in the world. Math is something that will constantly be used in real-life and bring great changes, so instead of complaining, you should appreciate the benefits it brings to our world.

As one who took up Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education Major in General Educational it is not impossible that I’m going to be a teacher in Math. I should prepare myself on different strategies to be more effective educator and to make sure that my pupils will have an enormous time on math subject.

When I was just about to start my 3rd year level of college life, I look my curriculum and find out what are the subjects that I have to accomplish on this level. Then I found out that on my 1st semester I have four major subject and it’s about Math (Geometry, Advance Algebra and Trigonometry, Seminar on Problem Solving and Instrumentation in Mathematics). At first, I thought we’ll going to have a computation everyday because it’s all about math. Then, I found out that Instrumentation in Mathematics is not all about computing numbers but it’s all about strategies on teaching math. When I started taking up this subject I find more fascinated to the course I am taking right now.

Our teacher taught us a lot of things that was very helpful to us in the future. He trained us to be an effective teacher, he improves our confident and he inspired us a lot. First, he taught us the competencies and the units studied in Elementary Mathematics, which are suited to our course. Then, followed by common visual aids for instruction that we just don’t discuss it but also we apply it. In this subject we also trained in making visual aids. We also learn the strategies of teaching math to slow learner and disabled students, techniques on how should Math subject be more fun. In this subject we also trained to make lesson plan on the subject of to elementary Mathematics.
Each time I entered to the class I feel so excited because for me this is the most exciting subject that I have on this semester. I am not just educated about computing math problems but also I have learned a lot of strategies in teaching math not just because we have our handout but because we had our demo teaching about it. I found out that I had a low voice, and realized that having an enthusiastic voice is very important to the teachers.

These subject trains future Mathematics teachers to develop visual aids and manipulative materials with that will help students understanding of abstract or difficult concepts in Mathematics and make the study of the subject more appealing to students. It is more than what I thought at first.

Now, it’s about to end but I could say that I gained a lot of knowledge that I can used to my next journey in life. Thanks to our professor for sharing a lot of things to us it a big help to us.

This subject I experienced to discovered who am ‘I and found joy finishing different activities. As a future Educator we produce responsible individual that is why this training I improved my creativity, self confidence and appreciate the beauty of Mathematics to our lives.”As traveler and College student, I went to different countries definitely; countries I go to, people speak different languages. However, if you were to write out Mathematical equations everyone understands it. Teaching Demo was a challenging experienced because this activity I have shown my strategy in teaching and unique visual aids. This exploration prepared us to be successful and ready for whatever world throws yet all of these wonderful, aspiring and pleasant experiences will grows forever. This subject helps me to be more in touch with the emotions of an invidual’s through learning process because today learner’s feelings and emotions are important in Educating Mind, Body and Souls that is why formulating lesson plan I prepared by thinking carefully so that I will achieved my goals. My classroom atmosphere was filled of laughter, joy, fun and respects each other. This wonderful relationship is our key for having interesting discussions in our career, life etc.

Mathematics it’s not my best subject but I’ am so proud to say that I’m good in math now because I realize I already applied in my everyday life the different operations in mathematics and analyzing problem to solve with higher thinking level. This subject will never be interesting without our great professor .I meet my professor as ordinary and I will turn to be extraordinary in the field of mathematics therefore I would like to say thank you to make the class fun, encouraging us to do our best, everything you taught in instrumentation. I will always remember that I had an excellent Guide to reach my right path in teaching career.
I close my journey in a very inspirational quote:
“THE BEST TEACHER TEACHES FROM THE HEART, NOT FROM THE BOOK…. (www.verybestquotes.com)

  5. A Journey to Instrumentation in Mathematics

Since I was in Grade School I find Mathematics so enjoyable, even though sometimes it’s not the easiest subject, I find myself enjoying and having fun solving Math problems. I really enjoy mathematics in fact, I was a student of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics when I was studying in Cebu. But since we moved here, I have shifted into a Generalist, because a Generalist can teach anything. Since Olivarez College doesn’t offer BSED major in Mathematics. I chose to be a Generalist. Many of the people find Mathematics very boring and not enjoyable. But, if you look deep into it, we use mathematics in our everyday lives, and we will constantly use it for every day. Like John von Neun once said that “If people do not believe that mathematics is simple, it is only because they do not realize how complicated life is.” & Deepak Chopra once said that “Mathematics expresses values that reflect the cosmos, including orderliness, balance, harmony, logic, and abstract beauty.” That is why instead of complaining that math is boring, it’s not enjoyable we should appreciate what mathematics brings us and how mathematics helps us in our daily lives.
Every day, we face Mathematics in a simple way that no one is noticing that they are doing what they hate. The subject math has always been complicated to the most of the people or let’s say it this way “Not everybody enjoys Mathematics”. When I was about to enroll my subject for this semester, iwas so excited because I saw that curriculum that we are about to face four subject in mathematics (Geometry, Algebra & Trigonometry, Seminar on Problem Solving & Instrumentation in Mathematics) I was so excited because as I said I LOVE mathematics. So as we face this four subject , I really enjoyed every moment of it and learn more about different strategies and approaches to be used to make mathematics more interesting and enjoyable for our future students.
As we go on in our Instrumentation in mathematics we have learned so many things like making a lesson plan that is effective for us and for our students. Visual aids that is very interesting and relevant to our future students. Especially, the strategies and approaches that we have to imbibe in order for us to be effective mentor someday.
If it wasn’t for our dear professor, we’ll not be able to imbibe each of this. The creativity and the real essence of teaching mathematics were taught to us. Our professor in Instrumentation really helped us well and taught us the different things that we have to learn. He is really an effecting and an outstanding mentor. And now, I could say that I am a product of a good teacher that is why I should practice to be better and to be like them someday.

  6. "A Journey to Instrumentation in Mathematics"

Why do the students hate Math? Why do we need to study Math? These are the common questions that I hear in other students who hate the Math subject. Bring up the topic of math to a group of adults and you will hear the predictable grunts from them. But Math is important in today’s world, and I agree that it’s a critical skill for every student to have. We all accept that math is difficult but crucial.

I am in my Third Year College and taking up Bachelor of Elementary
Education and now majoring Math subject. At first, I really don’t like Math. But when the school year 2012 – 2013 started, I have realized that I don’t need to hate that subject because as a future elementary educator, I need to face and pursue it, even if it is complicated. I learn a lot of things that I didn’t learn before.

Now, one of my major subjects is Instrumentation in Mathematics. Were we are able to do visual aids, demonstration teaching and we are able to exercise unusual strategies in teaching math in different dimensions, and extracting bloody lesson plan. It is exciting but I’m worried in certain things.

I accept the fact that I am not that good in Math. And as a future educator, I need to learn more and grasp more in my future endeavor. In instrumentation in mathematics. When we started, I had experienced make visual aids by using recycle materials. I experienced demo teaching and be criticized by our Professor – Dr. Edmar Orata. And I thanked to him, for the reason that I can apply his advices and good criticism in my future especially when I teach children.

According to Dr. Jerry Johnson, The students trying to learn mathematics — their maturity, their intellectual ability, their past experiences and performances in mathematics, their preferred learning styles, their attitude toward mathematics, and their social adjustment. Now, we’re now doing research for our final term. For me, it is a great experience, because it is a big challenge for us. And I can employ it in my future endeavor.

  8. A Journey to Instrumentation in Mathematics

Mathematics is used throughout the world as an essential tool in many fields, including, medicine, natural science etc. During the 1st semester of 3rd year college every individual has his/her own opinions on what he/she likes and dislikes in school. These opinions often change throughout the time because of their teachers, strengths and weaknesses. In college there are certain standards that every individual must succeed in order to maintain a grade. “Mathematics is an essential part of every high school and college student’s education.” This statement is true and it is true in life. Every student learn fundamentals in math that will carry with them through life. Each of these is building blocks to help shape who we become. As an instrumentation in mathematics student, I feel instrumentation in mathematics has taught me not only about solving fraction, permutation, lesson planning, demonstration and research, but it has taught me thinking skills and problem solving that will take me further than just math class. There are times in which you have to decide which path you will take after college; although every path is different you will take the skills in which you have learned in math class to a different level.

From the beginning of math in grade 1 up to college, each person goes through the stages of struggles and success. For a student like me, math was always a struggle. I used to say, “I hate math”, although I was quickly corrected by you. You said that “You don’t hate math, you just haven’t had enough practice.” This statement made me think about how every concept requires special attention and focus. In my math major each student discovers what practice really means, studying hard, completing assignment and paying attention in class. Concentration is a skill that I will come out of math major with; the dedication that this class requires teaches every student concentration. The concentration on this subject will help the students pursue their dreams while taking other subject to achieve this.

Some students often say “I won’t need this in the future”, but they are wrong. As a student you may not need to know how to prove trigonometric identities, but you will need to use the skills of applying one concept to another in order to achieve the answer. The problem solving skills in which a high school or college math student attains are crucial in the real world. Each problem that students need to solve involves steps. The concept of problem solving taught in high school and college will initiate smarter ways in which we can solve our problem.

Another major influence on a college student’s math education is the teacher. A teacher is crucial to a student’s success. The ideal teacher knows several ways to explain a certain concept. Becoming involved in the lesson teaches students to be more comfortable to be verbal during class. By doing this, it gives math students communication skills in front of others. Also it helps the students learn the idea of what is being taught by putting what you know towards the new problem.

There are several things that I never taught about which I learned in instrumentation in mathematics. The skills of communication, demonstration and research have been taught while learning the concept of math. In our world not everyone is fortunate enough to have education like we do. As a result each student discovers new ideas, strategies and concept in which will help them in the future. The skills in which I learn during my math major will be taken and applied to other situations in my life.

Thanks a lot to my professor in instrumentation in mathematics for inspiring and encouraging me to believe that I can excel in math (instrumentation in mathematics) 

  9. A journey to instrumentation in math

We all know some of the students are weak in math, isn’t? Like me, every time we saw some equations, problem solving, numbers or anything that is related in mathematics, we feel frustrated. But, for me it is not the reason to give up on mathematics, instead I strive harder and face my fears and I’m thankful because with the help of my professors especially Dr. Orata, my
perception change, because they help me to became confident, zealous and to be persistent student.

In our subject instrumentation, it helps us a lot, especially in our teaching profession, because Dr. Orata trained us to become effective mentor and also, he taught us some strategies which would be helpful in our teaching profession in the near future and it also helps our pedagogical teaching knowledge effectively, because my professor delivered the lesson perspicuously.

Every time I remember my past situation in subject math, It feels ludicrous because I did not learn the basic structure of mathematics but now I enjoyed it.

Now, I’m proud to say that mathematics is not my hate subject; instead it is my inspiration to strive harder. Now I realize and appreciate how important the subject mathematics is.

  10. A journey to instrumentation in Math

What can you say if you heard the word "Math"? Some of you says that math is a very hard subject and hard to understand. Most of the student when they hear the word math they usually bored, frighten and they expect they fail to pass this subject.

Math is like a Durian fruit that so smelly but the taste is good. Math is hard subject but when you love it and put some interest, It become fun. Aside from that Math is very important in our life because most of the things we do there's a Math. For example, when you buy some products in the store and when you pay it there's a math.In making a house there's a math.

"The world of mathematics open up a new world that you never imagined when you take advantage of the possibilities it opens to you, whether it be seeing the beauty in things or opening up more life long opportunities". Let our face the realty that math is together in our everyday life and learn to understand it and love it and although we commit mistakes in math but at the end, every failure there,s a success.

I want to say Thank you all my Math teacher that support me, guide me and teach the different strategies and techniques in math.Especially my teacher in instrumentation in math to teach how to become more confident in teaching in front and teaching the different instrumentation in teaching math.

"Life is a math equation. In order to gain the most, you have to know how to convert the negatives into positives."
